Wolfgang Stein spends years in Bautzen prison for attempting to flee the republic. He was ransomed by the West German government in 1971 and ended up in a reception camp in Unna. There he falls in love with a nurse, Anne, with whom he soon moves in together, who becomes pregnant by him and whom he soon marries. One day, an old friend, Dieter Michaelis, a fellow prisoner from Bautzen, comes to the reception center and asks Stein to work as an escape helper for his brother-in-law living in the GDR.

Robert, actor, is depressed. This is why he decides to go to his sister Gisèle's. Robert's return will somewhat upset his sister's life in a positive way and give him the strength to live his illicit love affairs.

Retired filmmaker Abraham Rabenthal (Vadim Glowna) is producing the directorial debut feature (titled Ins Blaue) of his daughter Nike (Alice Dwyer), and together are filming around Neapolitan locales with their cast and crew. Nike's film is about three young women traveling in a camper van through Italy and having individual adventures with men along the way. Eva hooks up with a monk, Josephine with a mute fisherman, and Laura, an old philosopher. After a bank rejects Abraham's application for further funding, costs needed to be cut, and two of the male characters - the monk and the fisherman, are played by the same cast member Wilhelm, and the old philosopher, by Abraham himself. But that's when things get more complicated.

Alexandre is processing his feelings about his wife having left him, while a waitress serves and listens to him.
